Krav Maga is much more than just another method of self defense training. While other martial arts are more focused on competitions and sport, Krav Maga is actually focused on training you to handle any dangerous situation that may come your way. When you are training in a martial art, within a few weeks you should be able to feel more confident about your ability to protect yourself, and Krav Maga can give you this kind of confidence. So, if you really are interested in learning to keep yourself safe in a world that is far from safe, Krav Maga is a great choice.
If you are going to take Krav Maga self defense training, it is usually best that you take it for an extended period of time. People who only take a few weeks of training will not be able to enjoy all the benefits of Krav Maga. While Krav Maga will help you learn how to protect yourself much faster than other types of self defense, you should at least take six months of training if you want to become proficient in Krav Maga. The following are just a few reasons that you will need to take at least 6 months of Krav Maga self defense training.
To Learn the Basic Principles of Krav Maga
One of the main reasons that you need to take Krav Maga self defense training for at least six months is because you need the time to learn the basic principles of Krav Maga. If you don’t take the time to learn the basic principles and how to use them, then your training will not be very beneficial to you. Here are the five basic principles that you will learn.
Neutralizing the Threat – One basic principle you will learn is that you must neutralize the threat. After you have neutralized the threat then they will not be able to attack you anymore.
Avoiding any Injuries – Yet another principle that is basic to learning Krav Maga is doing your best to avoid any injuries. Protecting your body is important and you need to take any measures possible to keep yourself from being injured.
Hitting Points of Vulnerability – Use the high vulnerability points when you are trying to attack an attacker. You want to get them where it hurts the most so that they can be neutralized as a threat.
Attack – Don’t Just Defend – One of the most important principles of Krav Maga is that you need to attack your attacker, not just defend yourself. As soon as you can, stop just defending and go on and attack.
Use Everything Possible Around You – When you are training in Krav Maga you will be trained to take everything around you and use it as a possible weapon. While you may not have a real weapon around, you can make use of the things that are surrounding you.
The Longer Your Train the More Proficient You Will Become
While you will definitely learn a lot, even in the first few Krav Maga lessons, if you want to get the maximum benefits of the training, you’ll need to take at least 6 months of training. You see, the more you train and the more moves that you are able to learn, then the more proficient you will become at Krav Maga, which means you will be better able to protect yourself.
You Can Go Through Various Levels of Training
Although Krav Maga does not focus on going through various levels, there are four different levels that you can achieve. The longer you train in Krav Maga, there more levels you can get through. The first few belts are considered to be in Level 1, and these classes will teach the core defenses and moves of Krav Maga. You will learn to develop the proper techniques, including kicks, stances, punches, knee strikes, and other basic moves for self defense. As you go on into the higher levels you will learn more about various combinations, kicks, defending yourself against a weapon, and other more advanced self defense techniques.
As you can see, it is definitely going to be in your benefit to take at least 6 months of training in Krav Maga.
